150 Dinar Fine for Illegal Racing and Dangerous Driving

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 9: The Ministry of Interior has confirmed that individuals who conduct motor vehicle races on public roads without a permit, violate permit conditions, or gather vehicles for reckless or negligent use—endangering themselves or others—will face fines of up to 150 dinars if a settlement order is approved. The ministry emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic laws to prevent accidents.

According to an official statement, starting April 22, the fine for unauthorized racing or reckless vehicle use will be 150 dinars. If the case is referred to court, penalties may include imprisonment ranging from over one year to a maximum of three years, a fine between 600 and 1,000 dinars, or both.

This enforcement is part of a broader campaign by the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media to promote awareness of the new traffic law, with informational brochures published in multiple languages. A security source also stated that in the coming days, the Ministry of Interior will systematically publish details of all traffic violations, specifying each offense and its corresponding fine.
