KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: The head of the Federation of Fresh Dairy Producers, Abdul Hakim Al-Ahmad, said the current plan to correct the course of the livestock sector in the country “requires the government to ensure the availability of a strategic stock of livestock needs, including fodder of all kinds, such as concentrated feed, barley, corn and soy, and full feed such as dry alfalfa in sufficient quantities for a period of one or two years at least, to ensure the continuity of local production of livestock, and to enhance food security,” reports Al- Qabas daily.

Al-Ahmad told the daily, the government must pay attention to animal breeding in the country, and to ensure highly quality veterinary services of international standards are made available, particularly in the area of detecting animal viruses, response and reporting of infections of transboundary animal diseases, and the application of the Law on Control of Infectious Animal Diseases through epidemiological investigation programs.
