Roaches, insects found in rotten meat and fish

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) during an inspection campaign has issued 22 citations. The Al-Seyassah daily said the inspectors targeted the Capital Governorate (Mubarakiya Center) in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior and Kuwait Municipality on mobile food establishments on the Jaber Bridge (Southern Island). The violations involved a mobile food establishment that was operating without obtaining a health license issued by the Authority, another mobile food establishment operating after the expiry of health license and the employer hiring workers whose health certificate had expired or without obtaining this certificate. The citation was also issued for non-compliance of hygiene rules.

Meanwhile, the Hawally Governorate Inspection Department at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) has conducted an inspection tour, spearheaded by Hawally Food Inspection Center Director Hanan Haji and Salmiya Inspection Center Director Jumana Bou Abbas. Haji disclosed that in compliance with the directive of PAFN Director General Dr. Reem Al-Fulaij and under the supervision of Hawally Governorate Inspection Department Director Abdullah Al-Kandari, the food establishments in the governorate were inspected with the assistance of the technical staff. She clarified that such campaigns are aimed at tightening control over food establishments to ensure the quality and safety of food products. She added the violations include non-compliance with sanitation regulations as a lot of cockroaches and insects were found during the inspection of food items, sale of adulterated meat and fish, workers handling food without a health certificate that proves they are fit to work and free from infectious diseases, handling food without meeting the technical and health requirements, and opening a food establishment without obtaining a health license from the authority.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry denied the use of WhatsApp to provide complaint services or to respond to inquiries. The ministry stressed that it has not requested any payment links via WhatsApp, and advised consumers to ignore any suspicious messages they may receive in this regard.
