227 cars seized, 40,000 citations in traffic raids

KUWAIT CITY, March 3: The General Traffic Department (GTD) at the Interior Ministry continued its traffic enforcement campaigns in all governorates. Last week these campaigns led to the issuance of 40,000 citations for various traffic violations, while 227 vehicles were impounded and 36 individuals were referred to traffic police.

The weekly report revealed the apprehension of 44 minors for driving without a license, all of whom were referred to the Public Prosecution. The department also impounded 44 vehicles wanted by the judiciary, apprehended 37 individuals wanted by law and some who were convicted in absentia, detained three individuals who failed to present valid identification documents, seized drugs from three people, and detained eight individuals found in abnormal condition. Furthermore, the report recorded a total of 1,169 traffic accidents, including 216 resulting in injuries.
