Dept announces launch of contest
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammed Al-Jabri during a tour of a mosque
KUWAIT CITY, May 29, (Agencies): The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has prepared 26 mosques nationwide dedicated to receive worshippers performing late-night prayers during the Muslims holy month of Ramadan, Minister Mohammad Al-Jabri said on Sunday. Al-Jabri, also Minister of State for Municipal Affairs, made the statement during a tour to the mosques which started in Belal bin Rabah Mosque, aimed at seeing first-hand readiness to host the worshippers. He said the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has started preparing the mosques before advent of Ramadan in order to create suitable atmosphere for worshippers. These mosques, added Al-Jabri, would also witness lectures and Quran lessons throughout Ramadan.Meanwhile, the Department of Religious Media at Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced the launch of its annual Ramadan contest, which will be held from Saturday, May 27 to the end of the month of Ramadan, reports Al- Seyassah daily.The department affirmed that the winners of the contest will get valuable prizes, stressing that the contest is in line with the ministry’s strategy which is aimed at enhancing knowledge and culture aspects among all segments of the society especially the youths who represent the basic pillar of development for any nation.Acting Director of the department Salman Al-Khulaifan said both citizens and residents can participate in the contest, provided they are followers of the ministry’s Instagram account “Red Awqaf”, adding that the contest is open to all age groups. He highlighted the importance of such competitions and their role in motivating youths to read and research. Al-Khulaifan called on those concerned with religious education to support such competitions especially considering the fact that the social media is fl ooded with non-beneficial competitions. He insisted that the answers to all 30 questions must be sent after Eid Al-Fitr directly to [email protected] along with the participant’s name and telephone number, adding that any queries and observations in this regard should also be sent to this email address.
