270 Cameras Deployed to Monitor Traffic as School Year Begins

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 16: The Head of the Central Control Management Department of the Traffic and Operations Sector, Major Engineer Ali Al-Qattan, revealed that 270 surveillance cameras have been deployed to monitor traffic congestion and manage accidents or vehicle breakdowns as the school year begins.

Major Al-Qattan stated that certain areas are experiencing high traffic density, particularly on major expressways like Fifth Ring Road, Fahaheel Road, and King Fahd Road. He explained that the central control room's 270 cameras are actively monitoring traffic to detect congestion points.

Al-Qattan emphasized that through these surveillance systems, any traffic jams or disruptions on highways or intersections are immediately identified. When such incidents occur, traffic light timings are adjusted to ease the flow of vehicles, and patrols are dispatched to the scene to resolve issues, whether they involve accidents or vehicle breakdowns, to minimize traffic disruptions.

He urged drivers to leave early, especially at the start of the school year, to avoid congestion and ensure smooth drop-offs at schools. Al-Qattan added that while traffic is generally moving, some areas are congested due to school locations, but traffic patrols are working diligently to maintain a steady flow.
