KUWAIT CITY, Feb 22:The Medical Emergency Department at the Ministry of Health announced that it responded to 35 cases (23 males and 12 females) during the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Bridge Marathon on Saturday, which saw the participation of around 21,000 runners as part of the Kuwait Sports Day festivities.

Dr. Ahmad Al-Shatti, Director of the Department, told KUNA that the Ministry was fully prepared to support the event, which featured a variety of sports activities across five different locations. A well-thought-out plan was implemented, which included the deployment of 30 ambulances and 160 emergency medical technicians.

Dr. Al-Shatti further explained that for the Jaber Bridge Marathon specifically, 16 ambulances were stationed along the route, with one ambulance every 500 meters. Additionally, two fixed clinics and two golf carts were on hand to assist, with 76 emergency medical technicians participating in the efforts.

He emphasized the importance of Sports Day in promoting health and considered it a positive step forward, as sports play a crucial role in strengthening immunity, preventing chronic diseases, improving heart and artery health, and enhancing mental well-being.
