KUWAIT CITY, Dec 15: The Criminal Court has sentenced four Iranians to life imprisonment for attempting to smuggle 152 kilograms of hashish and psychotropic substances on Kubbar Island. They were arrested by a trap set by officers from the Drug Control General Department and the General Department of Coast Guard. The defendants confessed to the charges, stating that they are heroin addicts. They explained that they left the Abadan area aboard a 21-foot boat after loading different quantities of drugs onto it. They admitted to taking a dose of heroin before departing Abadan and stated that they did not personally know the boat’s owner. According to them, the boat was rented by fishermen from the Abadan area. The drugs were loaded onto the boat, and they set off toward Kuwait based on an agreed-upon location marked on a map. However, they were arrested.
