KUWAIT CITY, Nov 16: As the General Traffic Department (GTD) continues its campaigns to pursue violators of traffic laws, particularly the speeding reckless motorists, the campaigns that spanned throughout the week resulted in the issuance of 29,047 citations, impounding of 26 vehicles and towing them to the Interior Ministry garage and referral of 48 juveniles – who were caught driving without a licence – to the Juvenile Prosecution and 87 others were put behind bars for committing various types serious offences, reports Al-Anba daily.

The daily said, during the campaign 30 motor cycles were seized, 13 persons who had been sentenced in absentia were arrested and seven expatriates also were taken into custody for driving without a licence and referred to administrative deportation. On the other hand, a security source said the traffic sector is fully prepared to receive any reports related to recklessness on the roads which normally coincides with the rainy season.

The daily added, the traffic police have been instructed not to be lenient with any reckless motorist. They have also orders to impound the vehicle. Those arrested for reckless driving will be referred to the judiciary. The source stated citizens and residents can photograph or make a video clip of these negligent motorists send them to the General Traffic Department, specifically to the number designated for this purpose, pointing out that all these reports are dealt with in cooperation with the rest of the other security agencies, especially the public security sector.
