48,793 traffic violations and 272 'serious accidents' in one week

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: The General Traffic Department has released new statistics from ongoing traffic campaigns conducted by the Traffic Regulation Departments across all governorates. From October 5 to 11, these campaigns resulted in the recording of 48,793 various traffic violations.

During this period, law enforcement officials seized 118 vehicles and 97 motorcycles, which are now housed in the impoundment garage. Additionally, authorities confiscated 72 wanted vehicles linked to judicial matters and theft. The campaigns also led to the arrest of 41 wanted individuals for various reasons, including absence, arrest, and expired residence permits.

In total, seven individuals were detained for lacking proof of identity, and five were taken into custody due to abnormal conditions. All detained vehicles and individuals have been referred to the appropriate authorities for necessary legal action. One individual was reported for possessing suspected narcotic substances and has been referred to the General Department for Combating Narcotics.

According to the Operations Department of the General Traffic Department, officials managed 2,784 reports and recorded 1,622 traffic accidents during the same timeframe. This total includes 1,350 minor accidents, primarily collisions, as well as 272 serious accidents involving injuries.
