KUWAIT CITY, March 16: The 56th edition of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation Cup for the 2022-2023 season began on Thursday with two matches at the Al-Ittihad Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Complex halls. The first match was with Al-Shabab against Burgan, with the latter winning three rounds with a score of 25-19 in each round.
In the second match, Al-Jahra defeated Al-Tadamon in a closely contested game, with a final score of 19-25, 25-16, 25-22, 17-25, and 15-7. Six teams are participating in the preliminary round of the tournament: Al-Shabab, Burgan, Al-Jahra, Al-Tadamon, Al-Yarmouk, and Al-Sahel.
According to the tournament system, four teams will advance to the round of four, and two teams will advance to the final. The championship has been held 55 times before this season, with Al-Qadisiyah and Kuwait winning it 17 times each, Kazma winning 13 times, while Al-Arabi and Al-Jahra have won it seven and once, respectively. The ongoing competition is expected to be an exciting one, with some of the best volleyball players in Kuwait showcasing their skills on the court.
