58 busted in Salmiya as Kuwait tightens security

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 14: As part of the ongoing comprehensive security campaigns held by the Ministry of Interior in all governorates, an extensive security campaign was held in Salmiya in the presence and under the direct supervision of the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Minister of Defense Sheikh Fahad Yousef Al-Sabah.

The Undersecretary of the Traffic and Operations General Department Major General Yousef Al-Khudah, and the Assistant Undersecretary for Special Security Affairs Major General Abdullah Safah, as well as some policewomen, were also present. During the campaign, 2,763 traffic citations were issued, 58 wanted individuals were arrested including 30 men and 28 women, and 10 vehicles were seized.

In another development, the General Traffic Department issued a total of 43,573 traffic citations in one week, seized 115 vehicles and 50 motorcycles, set up 46 police checkpoints, and caught 21 juveniles driving without licenses. It also seized 44 vehicles wanted by the judiciary and apprehended 39 wanted individuals, as well as responded to 1,249 traffic accidents involving 265 casualties.
