KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The Assistant Undersecretary for Press, Publishing, and Publications Affairs at the Ministry of Information LafiAl-Subaie revealed that six electronic media outlets have been referred to the Public Prosecution for publishing incorrect information about a decree to cancel the end-of-service bonus for retired officers. In an interview with Al-Seyassah, Al-Subaie explained that these outlets violated Article 17 of the electronic media regulation law, as they had hastily published inaccurate news without verifying the information from official sources. He affirmed that the ministry will take legal action against any individuals or outlets that violate publishing laws.
Meanwhile, the Public Prosecution has summoned approximately 25 bloggers, including former MPs, for investigation this evening because they published false news, including claims that former MP Shuaib Al-Muwaizri had been detained and prevented from entering the country. According to informed sources, the bloggers were notified by the Ministry of Interior to appear before the Public Prosecution for publishing news that was not accurate, as Al-Muwaizri was neither detained nor prevented from entering Kuwait. The Public Prosecution intends to conduct investigations with these bloggers and will subsequently.
