KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: The Ministry of Interior has arrested seven employees from the Ministry of Justice on charges of forging attendance records and unlawfully seizing public funds. The arrests were made as part of an ongoing effort to combat fraud and corruption within government institutions.
According to the Criminal Security Sector, the suspects employed at the Ministry of Justice engaged in fraudulent practices by using counterfeit silicon fingerprints to manipulate the biometric attendance system. This allowed them to falsely record entry and departure times for other employees, enabling unauthorized absences while continuing to draw salaries.
Following a thorough investigation by the Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes Department of the General Department of Criminal Investigations, authorities uncovered substantial evidence implicating the suspects. During searches, law enforcement officers seized seven fake silicon fingerprints that were allegedly used in the scheme. Officials believe this was part of a wider network of fraudulent activities and are currently working in coordination with other relevant authorities to identify any additional cases of similar misconduct.
The arrested individuals, along with the seized evidence, have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal proceedings. Authorities have confirmed that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of tampering with official records and misusing public funds.
The Ministry of Interior has reaffirmed its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in government operations. It has also issued a stern warning that any attempts to manipulate public resources, forge documents, or engage in corrupt practices will be met with severe legal consequences.
As investigations continue, officials have urged public sector employees to adhere to ethical practices and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to help maintain integrity within state institutions.
