KUWAIT CITY, Oct 24: In a recent interview on Kuwait TV, Major General Yousef Al-Khudda, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Traffic and Operations Sector, outlined key penalties under the new traffic law. He announced that the minimum fine for parking in a prohibited area is 15 dinars.

Al-Khudda also highlighted the alarming number of traffic accidents, revealing that approximately 300 occur daily, with 90% of them caused by distractions, particularly the use of mobile phones while driving. The penalty for using a phone behind the wheel has been set at 70 dinars to address this issue.

Additionally, fines for reckless driving will range from 30 to 150 dinars, depending on the severity of the offense. Al-Khudda stressed that violations such as running red lights, speeding, racing, and reckless driving are considered serious offenses under the updated regulations.
