KUWAIT CITY, Aug 26: A total of 98 prisoners breathed fresh air after they were included on the list of prisoners set free by Amiri pardon, reports Al-Qabas daily. Those released include citizens, Bedoun, and expatriates at dawn today. On the list of the Amiri pardon are the names of 917 other prisoners who got their sentences reduced citing good behavior and dropping fines and/or quashing the deportation order. Sources told the daily that the released 53 expatriates were referred to the deportation prison who will soon be sent to their respective countries.

The daily added, the Amiri pardon benefits 300 people who were staying illegally in the country who were ordered to be deported by the court. The sources indicated that the Amiri Pardon Committee has studied about 2,500 files of prisoners, pointing out that the release of these prisoners came in accordance with the noble habit of His Highness the Amir who meet the conditions of amnesty, which is part of Kuwait’s strategic perspective to protect human rights and consecrate freedom and justice.
