ABK sponsors Child Protection Conference 2024

KUWAIT CITY, October 22: Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) proudly announces its sponsorship of the Child Protection Conference 2024, organized by the Kuwait Bar Association. This commitment reflects ABK's dedication to social responsibility and support for pressing social issues, highlighting its role as a responsible banking and financial institution in the Kuwaiti market.

The conference featured numerous sessions and workshops addressing violence against children and promoting criminal, civil, psychological, and international protection for youngsters.

Numerous attendees were present, including the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the President of the Kuwait Bar Association, and many legal experts, consultants, and lawyers. ABK was honored during the conference, attended by with Dr. Nawaf AlShuraiaan, General Counsel, Legal at ABK; Sager Albenali, Chief Communications Officer at ABK; and representatives from other sponsoring organization and participating entities.

On this occasion, Dr. AlShuraiaan said, “Legal protection for all members of society is one of the most pressing social issues in Kuwait and worldwide. We were therefore eager to participate in this conference, fulfilling our responsible role and striving to strengthen our presence across all segments within Kuwait. This aligns with our social responsibility program, which places significant importance on families and children, given their substantial impact on society.”

Dr. AlShuraiaan clarified that the conference’s theme is rooted in Article 10 of Kuwait’s Constitution, which states “The State cares for the young and protects them from exploitation and from moral, physical and spiritual neglect.” This principle is further embodied in the provisions of Law No. 21 of 2015 concerning the rights of the child.

The conference will delve into many topics regarding child protection and rights, addressing legal recourse for minors facing disputes and exploring psychological and educational safeguards. International experiences in child protection will also be presented.

ABK actively engages in initiatives aimed at enhancing children's welfare, including organizing workshops in schools to promote financial literacy, sponsoring celebrations, providing academic supplies, and inviting employees' children to learn about banking operations.

Dr. AlShuraiaan expressed gratitude to the Kuwait Bar Association for hosting this impactful conference, highlighting the significant attendance from those dedicated to children's affairs in Kuwait. He reaffirmed ABK's commitment to participating in initiatives that foster cooperation among various entities to enhance social responsibility and address crucial social topics constructively.

ABK consistently evolves its social responsibility program by sponsoring health, sports, educational, cultural, and technological events, collaborating with public and private institutions to meet the essential needs of all societal segments within the local market.
