KUWAIT CITY, Oct 3: The Kuwait Football Club secured a victory against their Jordanian counterpart, Al-Wahdat, on Tuesday in the second group match of the AFC Cup, with a final score of 2-1. Tunisian striker Taha Al-Khanisi was the star of the match, scoring both of Kuwait's goals in the 42nd and 75th minutes, the latter from a penalty kick. Player Muhannad Abuta managed to score Al-Wahdat's sole goal in the 52nd minute. This thrilling match concluded with Kuwait earning three points, bringing their total score to four, temporarily placing them at the top of the group. Meanwhile, Al-Wahdat maintained their three points.
In the tournament's first round, Kuwait had a draw against Iraqi Al-Kahraba. Kuwait competes in the second group alongside Jordanian Al-Wahdat, Iraqi Al-Kahraba, and Syrian Aleppo.
The AFC Cup, which commenced in 2004, has seen Kuwait and the Iraqi Air Force team as the most successful champions, each having claimed the title three times.
