Kuwait City, May 21Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) is pleased to announce receiving the Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply certification from Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIP), the largest professional body in the world for procurement and supply, in recognition of the Bank’s commitment to ethical practices in its business operations.
The thorough process is designed for professionals who are accountable for upholding ethical codes of conduct in procurement and supply activities. Upon undergoing the specialized e-learning and assessment, ABK successfully demonstrated that it possesses the knowledge to address potential conflicts of interest, define tasks, and identify techniques available to achieve added value.
The certification was presented to Loai Muqames, CEO-Kuwait during a special ceremony held at ABK’s head office which was attended by other members of management as well as CIPS representatives. Expressing his content, Muqames said, “We are honored to receive this recognition that underscores our commitment to conducting business with integrity and responsibility. At ABK, we recognize the profound impact that ethical procurement has on our reputation and customer perception.”
He continued, “We endeavor to uphold our principles in all our interactions and strive to enhance our performance by regularly measuring and improving our performance to ensure to maintain world-class procurement standards. I would like to thank the Procurement team for their dedication in achieving this global award.”
In turn, Jassem Alshatti, Assistant General Manager of Procurement at ABK, said, “From inception, the Procurement team has always strived and aimed to implement world-class procurement practices. We are pleased to be pioneers in Kuwait in this respect where this achievement demonstrates yet another milestone in our series of endeavors.”
In turn, CIPS highlighted ABK’s role as a frontrunner in the industry for promoting proper business practices. Hari Haran Laxminarayan, Head of professional development at CIPS MENA, said, “This certification represents a mark of distinction. We commend ABK for their dedication to their core values and integrating ethical principles into their procurement and supply operations.”
