Al Ain in a difficult mission against Al Ahli.

CAIRO, Oct 28: The much-anticipated Arab showdown in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup will see Egypt's Al-Ahly face UAE’s Al-Ain. The match is set for 8:00 pm at Cairo International Stadium, where the victor will advance directly to the semi-finals, with no second leg between the two teams.

Al-Ain reached this stage after defeating New Zealand’s Auckland City 6-2 in the preliminary round, securing their place to meet Al-Ahly in the Intercontinental Cup.

FIFA has named this round the "Africa, Asia, and Pacific Cup. " The winner will advance to the Challenge Cup round, where it will meet the winner of the Americas Derby—a match equivalent to the Intercontinental Cup semi-finals for clubs.

The Intercontinental Championship, recently launched by FIFA, follows a structure similar to previous versions of the Club World Cup, with some notable adjustments.

Al-Ahly received a boost ahead of the clash, as Palestinian striker Wissam Abu Ali rejoined the team’s training two days ago, marking his readiness for the Al-Ain matchup. Also in training were Rami Rabia and Taher Mohamed Taher, though the participation of injured players Yasser Ibrahim and Omar Kamal Abdel-Wahid remains uncertain. Both players are set for a final medical assessment at Cairo International Stadium, while Khaled Abdel-Fattah and Youssef Ayman have been ruled out.
