KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12: The Sahara Club knight and member of Kuwait's National Equestrian Team, Anaz Al-Anaz, claimed the championship title at the 11th edition of the Atyab Al-Marshoud International Championship. Organized annually by Waleed Al-Marshoud, the prestigious event brought together an elite lineup of knights and female riders from Kuwait, the Gulf region, and Europe, showcasing intense competition for the coveted title.
In the Grand Prix round, with a course height of 145 cm, Anaz Al-Anaz clinched first place with an impressive time of 35.71 seconds, finishing penalty-free in the differentiation round. He was followed by knight Ali Al-Kharafi, who recorded a faster time of 34.93 seconds but incurred four penalty points, placing him second. British knight Nick Channing secured third place, while Abdullah Al-Awadhi, Fawaz Rashid, and Madi Al-Khamis completed the top six rankings.
The champions were honored in a grand ceremony by the tournament's sponsor and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, Waleed Suleiman Al-Marshoud, alongside Vice Chairman and Tournament Director Marshood Al-Marshoud, Bashar Abdullah, Director General of the General Sports Authority, and the Bahraini Ambassador to Kuwait, Salah Al-Maliki.
In other events, Ali Al-Kharafi triumphed in the medium prize round (135 cm), while Fatima Al-Khenaini claimed victory in the small prize round (125 cm).
Notably, Ali Al-Kharafi had secured the Grand Prix titles during the first two days of competition. However, it was Anaz Al-Anaz who emerged as the ultimate champion on the final day, winning the car awarded to the tournament victor.
Waleed Suleiman Al-Marshood expressed his delight at the success of this year’s tournament, which coincided with the centennial celebration of Atyab Al-Marshoud's founding. Knight Marshoud Al-Marshoud highlighted the overwhelming audience turnout at the Kuwait Equestrian Center, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in making the event a resounding success.
