KUWAIT CITY, Feb 6: Al-Arabi SC defended their Crown Prince Cup for the second season in a row on Monday, winning the title for the ninth time, after a 4-1 defeat of Salmiya on penalties at Jaber International Stadium after a 2-2 original time draw.

The final, held under the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, saw both teams tied, 2-2, in both original and extra times. Salmiya were first to score through Carlos Rivas in the 27th minute. But Juma Abboud took the game into extra time, after he managed to level the scoreline for Al-Arabi with one minute left until the end of the match. Fahad Marzouk once more tipped the odds in Salmiya's favour, with a 100th minute effort.

But Al-Senussi Al-Hadi equalized again, scoring his side's second goal, and leveller, in the 106th minute for Al-Arabi, taking the game to spot kicks. Al-Arabi, one of the three most successful Crown Prince Cup and Premier League winners in the country, put four past Salmiya's one to win the cup competition for a ninth time - on par with Qadsia and Kuwait.
