KUWAIT CITY, Sept 27: In an exciting match at Jaber International Stadium, Al Arabi rediscovered their winning form by defeating Khaitan 4-0 during the opening of the third round of the Zain Premier League. This victory marked Khaitan's first defeat of the season.
The "Green" team's impressive performance elevated their total points to 7, while Khaitan remained at 4 points.
Khaitan, managed by coach Ibrahim Obaid, adopted a balanced approach in the first half, focusing on defensive organization and launching counterattacks. Their efforts posed a threat to Al Arabi's goalkeeper, Suleiman Abdel Ghafour. Notably, advanced defender Fawaz Al Khalidi's header narrowly missed the post.
Al-Arabi, despite possessing the ball more than their opponent, struggled to convert this advantage into on-field success. Their missed opportunities included Abdul Rahman Al-Dhafiri's free-kick that sailed over the crossbar and a dangerous header by Senegalese player Mamadou Thiam, skillfully saved by Khaitan's goalkeeper Ali Fadel.
At the start of the second half, German coach Thomas Bradewicz made strategic substitutions, bringing in Ali Khalaf and Moroccan player Walid Sabbar in place of Al-Dhafiri and Dhahi Al-Shammari.
Al-Arabi's offensive performance noticeably improved, with Ali Khalaf's shot hitting the post without a follow-up. Fadel managed to save a dangerous shot from Khaba but he couldn't stop Ali Khalaf's missile, which found the net, marking Al-Arabi's first goal.
Despite Khaitan's efforts to adjust, Al-Arabi maintained control. They added the second goal through a coordinated attack involving Mamadou and Khaba, with Sabar finishing it into the net. Jumaa Abboud added the third goal with a beautiful shot into the far corner.
Nayef Hamid, a substitute, concluded the quartet with a wonderful backheel pass from Sabbar.
