KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The Criminal Court has issued a death sentence to an individual convicted of fatally shooting their father with a firearm in the Al-Firdous area. The accused, whose identity has been withheld, recounted during court proceedings that the incident occurred amidst a haze of drug use.

According to the defendant's testimony, "On the day of the incident, I returned home under the influence of various drugs provided by a friend. Later, I learned that a confrontation erupted between my father and me over drug use, escalating into a physical altercation. Subsequently, I retrieved a machine gun and discharged two rounds into his chest, resulting in his death. I was unaware of these events until I regained consciousness in the detectives' cell, where I was informed that I had killed my father. It was only the following day, after recovering from the effects of the drugs, that I fully comprehended the situation."

The court's decision to impose the death penalty underscores the severity of the crime committed. The sentencing reflects the judiciary's commitment to justice in cases involving serious acts of violence.
