Al-Gharib stars as squash championship concludes

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Yarmouk's under-19 player, Jassim Al-Gharib, was crowned champion of the 16th National Championship, held at the Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah International Center in South Surra.

Al-Gharib staged an impressive comeback, overturning a one-set deficit to secure a 3-1 victory over Khaitan’s Qadir Gul. Throughout the match, Al-Gharib showcased technical prowess and composure in handling high-pressure situations. Gul finished as runner-up, while Khaitan’s Abdulrahman Al-Sanea claimed third place, and Al-Qurain’s Abdulrahman Al-Maghribi took fourth. Following the final match, trophies and medals were awarded by the Vice President of the Federation, Khalid Al-Habib, and General Secretary Hamed Al-Omran, Assistant Secretary Hamad Al-Daghim, and Federation members Omar Al-Qudaibi and Ahmed Al-Adwani.

In other categories, Qadir Gul of Khaitan won the general title, while Abdulrahman Al-Sanea, also of Khaitan, took first place in the under-17 category. Issa Al-Najada of Al-Arabi claimed the under-15 title, with his teammate Abdullah Hassan securing the under-13 title. The under-11 championship went to Khaitan’s Fahad Gul, and in the women’s category, Al-Arabi’s Basmala Al-Shami finished first.
