KUWAIT CITY, May 12: The victory chant echoes through Al-Jahra only when the clock strikes 5:40 pm at Friendship and Peace Stadium for the Al-Shabab clash, and again at 8:20 pm at Nasser Al-Osaimi Stadium for the Kazma versus Khaitan showdown, marking the fifth round of the relegation group skirmishes in the Zain League.
Kazma sits comfortably atop the Premier League standings, boasting a 32-point lead over its nearest rivals. Al-Shabab trails behind with 17 points, securing second place, while Khaitan follows closely with 15 points, just one shy of Al-Jahra in fourth.
In the opening bout, Al-Jahra clings to the hope of securing the coveted second spot, a lifeline to remain in the Premier League. Victory is imperative to bolster morale for the showdown, knowing that a draw diminishes its prospects, while defeat spells relegation to the first division.
Conversely, Al-Shabab strives for a crucial win to secure its survival, banking on Kazma's assistance in the subsequent match. A loss would plunge it into dire straits, especially with Kazma looming in the final round.
In the latter encounter, Khaitan aims to keep their qualification hopes alive, understanding that only a win can sustain its contention. A loss or draw, coupled with an Al-Shabab victory, condemns it to first-division exile.
Khaitan acknowledges the challenge ahead, facing a youthful squad eager to make its mark. Recent matches have showcased its prowess, netting an impressive 16 goals in the past four rounds, a testament to its determination.
