KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: The volleyball teams of Al-Kuwait Club and Al-Qadisiyah Club are set to embark on an overseas training camp in Turkey, commencing in the middle of this month. This initiative is part of their preparations for the upcoming second edition of the West Asian Club Championship, scheduled to take place from February 2 to 11 in the Sultanate of Oman. The training camps for both the "White" and "Yellow" teams will extend over a period of 15 days.

As the reigning champion of the Premier League last season, "Kuwait" aims to make a mark in the continental arena. Under the guidance of Turkish coach Taner Atik, the team will engage in a series of challenging trial matches during the Turkish camp, striving to elevate their performance and clinch the championship title. The first edition of the championship was won by the Qatari Al Rayyan Club in March last year in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

On the other hand, Al-Qadisiyah, the Premier League runner-up from the previous season, led by Bahraini coach Reda Ali, is gearing up for the tournament with four trial matches lined up during their Turkish training camp.

Both "Al-Kuwait" and Al-Qadisiyah are currently active participants in the general league championship that commenced on November 20. After 10 rounds, "Al-Abyad" (White) stands at the top of the standings with a perfect 28 points, while Al-Qadisiyah holds the second spot with 25 points, having played two matches less. Al-Arabi follows closely in third place with 22 points, sharing the same score as Burgan in fourth position. As per the league system for this season, the top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, with a playoff system determining the finalists through a series of three matches.

The league's format ensures an exciting journey towards the ultimate goal, with the top-performing teams eyeing a spot in the coveted final match, contested in the same playoff system.
