KUWAIT CITY, Dec 31: Captain Hussein Al-Musallam, Director of the Asian Council, extended a warm welcome to Kuwait's guests at the "Khaleeji Zain 26", which is set to conclude next Saturday at Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium. He emphasized Kuwait's tradition of embracing its Gulf neighbors during major sporting events.

Al-Musallam hosted a delegation of Gulf media professionals and journalists at the Asian Olympic Council headquarters, expressing his delight in welcoming them on the sidelines of the championship.

Speaking during the reception, Al-Musallam highlighted the unique atmosphere of the Gulf Championships, describing them as a blend of brotherhood, camaraderie, and spirited competition. He praised the enthusiastic support from fans who have gathered to cheer for their teams and commended the organizing committee for its exceptional efforts in ensuring that both Gulf teams and their supporters have all their needs met.

Al-Musallam acknowledged the critical role Gulf media plays in promoting sporting events, urging them to expand their coverage beyond Gulf tournaments to include Asian and international events. This, he noted, would significantly enhance the region's sports media landscape.

He also shed light on Saudi Arabia’s plans to host three significant Asian Games: the Martial Arts Indoor Games in 2027, the Asian Winter Games in Trojena in 2029, and the Asian Games in 2034. Al-Musallam stressed the importance of infrastructure development and creating a lasting legacy from these events, benefiting both society and athletes.

He noted that hosting the Winter Games poses a unique challenge but also represents an exciting opportunity for Saudi Arabia and the region to develop winter tourism.
