KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: Al-Nasr Club clinched a narrow 80-79 victory over Qurain in the first round of the basketball league at Union Hall in Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The event also saw Al-Qadsiya secure a commanding win over Al-Tadamon, finishing with a score of 113-45.

The league, which kicked off recently, follows a two-division format. After the initial round, the top four teams advance to the semi-finals, where the first-place team will face the fourth-place team, and the second will meet the third in a best-of-three playoff format. The winners will proceed to the finals, contested in a best-of-five series, with the team winning three games crowned champion.

The Al-Nasr vs. Qurain matchup remained intense from start to finish. Al-Annabi initially dominated, ending the first quarter with a 23-16 lead and extending it to 49-38 by halftime. Qurain showed improvement at the start of the third quarter, but Al-Nasr managed to widen the gap, closing the quarter at 71-56. In a thrilling final quarter, Qurain closed the gap, capitalizing on Al-Nasr's performance drop. The game reached a nail-biting conclusion, with Al-Nasr narrowly escaping with an 80-79 win.
