KUWAIT CITY, Jan 22: Al-Nasr has revamped its roster during the winter transfer window, signing five foreign players to strengthen the team. The new additions include Tunisian Hossam Al-Habasi, Libyan Moatasem Al-Lafi, Frenchman Heikul Gekkhaiol, Serbian Khoury O'Neill, and Jamaican Nemanja Kojic.
At the start of the season, Al-Nasr brought in Bernardo Villar (Brazil), Karar Amer (Iraq), Zakaria Al-Wardi (Morocco), Carlos Ventura (Dominican Republic), and Onanuga Babatunde (Nigeria). However, all their contracts were terminated at the request of head coach Jamal Belkacem from Tunisia.
Currently ranked ninth in the Zain Premier League with six points, Al-Nasr is striving to improve its position and secure its spot among the Premier League teams. The team has managed just one victory—against Kazma in the opening round with a narrow 1-0 scoreline—alongside three draws and eight losses.
The newly signed quintet debuted in the recent 1-1 draw against Kazma in the 12th round of the Zain Premier League. While they delivered an encouraging performance, the team required more games to develop stronger chemistry and cohesion among the players.
Al-Nasr’s management hopes the reinforcements will lead to better results in the second half of the season, as the team looks to climb up the standings and avoid relegation.
