KUWAIT CITY, Jan 18, (KUNA): The annual Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah Shooting Championship wrapped up the 2024-2025 season on Saturday, crowning the winners in both the men's and women's categories.
Sheikh Sabah Badr Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governor, emphasized the significance of this event in a statement following its conclusion. Organized by the Kuwait Shooting Club, he expressed his support for the competition, highlighting its role in recognizing the achievements of Kuwaiti shooters who have consistently excelled in international tournaments. He also commended the club's dedication to organizing the event at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Range.
In comments to KUNA, Duaij Al-Otaibi, president of the Kuwait Shooting Club, explained that the competition featured various categories, including the gun, pistol, rifle, and bow and arrow.
The standout performances included Hamad Al-Nemshan, who claimed first place in the air pistol (10 m) division, Abdullah Al-Harbi in the air rifle (10 m), Hassan Al-Failakawi in the pistol shooting (25 m), and Saud Al-Subaiee in the rifle competition (50 m). In the Olympic bow and arrow category, Habes Al-Sehammari took first place, with Mohammad Madi also securing the top position in the 30 m category. Abdullah Malallah emerged as the champion in the bow and arrow contest.
In the women's competition, Ghezlan Ali won gold in the air pistol (10 m) division, while Mariam Al-Rezouqi triumphed in the air rifle (10 m) event. Nour Al-Sherhan excelled in the Olympic bow and arrow category, and Hessa Mohammad claimed victory in the same event (30 m). Additionally, Hanan Al-Mayyas won gold in the compound bow and arrow category.
For the juniors, Nasser Al-Rabah emerged as the champion in the air rifle (10 m) category, while Rataj Al-Zayadi claimed the top spot in the same event for female athletes.
