KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: Al-Oyoun Girls Sports Club clinched the title at the inaugural Open Karate Federation Championship for Girls for the 2024/2025 local sports season. Organized by the Kuwait Karate Federation, the event featured more than 150 players from 14 clubs and specialized academies.

The championship, hosted at the Federation Hall at Al-Salmiya Club, included categories across juniors, youth, and general divisions. Al-Oyoun Girls secured the top spot with 30 points after a competitive showdown with last season's titleholder, Al-Fatat Club, which finished second with 27 points. Kuwait Club took third place, with its athletes amassing 18 points.

Dr. Abrar Abdul Sayed, head of the Women's Committee at the Federation, highlighted the impressive turnout and skill displayed in both "Kumite" combat and "Kata" demonstration events across all age groups. She congratulated the winning clubs and emphasized that the tournament holds special significance, as standout players will be selected to represent Kuwait in the first Gulf Girls Championship, scheduled for December in Riyadh. This tournament also serves as a valuable platform for identifying emerging talents, especially among the younger participants.
