KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Businessman and member of the General Assembly of Al-Qadisiya Club, Saud Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, along with his brothers and cousins, honored the team for winning the Amir’s Cup for the 17th time. The celebration took place at Al-Babtain’s Diwan in Al-Nuzha.
The event commenced with a master of ceremonies, Ahmed Al-Ramadan, welcoming esteemed guests, including the Kuwaiti Federation President and former Olympic Committee President, Sheikh Dr. Talal Al-Fahad. Following the introductions, Saud and Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Babtain, along with Sheikh Fahd Talal Al-Fahad, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Qadisiya Club, honored the players and team staff.
Saud Abdulaziz Al-Babtain expressed his joy over Al-Qadisiya’s victory in the Amir’s Cup, stating, “We congratulate the members of Al-Qadisiya Club for winning this prestigious cup, even if it was a bit delayed this time. We are used to this great sporting establishment always achieving victories and great accomplishments. We wish them continued success and more championships in their illustrious sports career. These victories benefit Kuwaiti football and our country, Kuwait.”
Vice Chairman Sheikh Fahd Talal Al-Fahad expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Saud Abdulaziz Al-Babtain and his family, noting that such generosity from the Al-Babtain family is well-known. Al-Fahad also addressed the squad selection for the upcoming matches against India and Afghanistan in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup. He voiced concerns about certain omissions but affirmed his support for the selected players.
Regarding Al-Qadisiya's exclusion from next season’s Asian competitions by the Football Association, Al-Fahad clarified that this was expected and attributed it to an incident during the Emir’s Cup final. He stressed that the Emir’s Cup remains more significant than any other competition, and the club is honored to have won it.
Al-Qadisiya goalkeeper Khaled Al-Rashidi thanked the Al-Babtain family for their hospitality and recognition of the players and staff. Captain Badr Al-Mutawa also expressed gratitude to Saud and Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Babtain for their support, wishing them abundant blessings and prosperity.
