KUWAIT CITY, July 2: Kuwait Football Association’s Competitions Department has decided to reschedule the Clásico match between Al-Qadisiya and Kuwait Club, moving it up by one day to August 8th, instead of the originally planned August 9th.

The rest of the first round of the Zain Premier League will proceed the following day with matches between Al-Arabi and Kazma, Al-Salmiya and Al-Nasr, Khaitan and Al-Fahaheel, and Yarmouk and Al-Tadamon.

Additionally, the association has revised the league competition system. The league will now feature a home-and-away format for all ten teams, with the third stage—comprising the championship and survival groups—being held in a single round on neutral ground. This is a departure from last season’s home-and-away format for the third stage. These changes aim to provide Al-Azraq with better preparation for the decisive round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and align with the association’s commitment to hosting “Gulf 26” next December.

The draw for all tournaments of the new 2024-2025 season took place at the association’s headquarters in Jaber Stadium. The event was attended by the association’s Secretary-General Salah Al-Qenaei, Assistant Secretary-General for Competitions Affairs Saleh Al-Majroub, Director of the Competitions Department Hamed Al-Shaibani, and club representatives.

The draw for the Amir’s Cup, which follows a knockout system, remained unchanged from the previous season, based on the rankings of the Premier League and First Division teams. As a result, league champion Kuwait Club avoided the preliminary round, which features matches between Al-Arabi and Sulaibikhat, Kazma and Al-Jahra, Al-Salmiya and Al-Sahel, Al-Nasr and Yarmouk, Khaitan and Al-Shabab, Al-Qadisiya and Burgan, and Al-Fahaheel and Al-Tadamon.

The draw for the Crown Prince Cup, also a knockout competition, resulted in the following pairings: Kuwait Club vs. Al-Tadamon, Kazma vs. Yarmouk, Al-Sulaibkhat vs. Khaitan, Al-Qadisiya vs. Al-Nasr, Burgan vs. Al-Salmiya, Al-Fahaheel vs. Al-Shabab, and Al-Arabi vs. Al-Sahel. Al-Jahra was exempt from the preliminary round. In the Super Cup, Kuwait Club will face Al-Salmiya, and Al-Arabi will take on Al-Qadisiya, with the winners meeting in the final match.

The league will feature ten clubs and will follow the same format as the previous season, with a home-and-away system before splitting into two groups: six clubs competing for the championship in a single round, and four clubs playing a single-round league to avoid relegation to the first division.

The tournament promises strong matchups, including a first-round clash between Kuwait and Al-Qadisiya, and a match between Al-Arabi and Kazma in the same round. The derby between Al-Qadisiya and Al-Arabi is scheduled for the third round.
