Players vie for the ball.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: The highly anticipated final clash for the Volleyball Super Cup in the 2023-2024 sports season is set to unfold today, pitting Al-Kuwait against Al-Qadsia. The showdown is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Al-Ittihad Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. Preceding this thrilling encounter is a match at 5:00 pm to determine the third and fourth places, featuring Al-Arabi and Kazma.

In the semi-finals, "Al-Abyad" emerged victorious over Al-Arabi with a decisive 3-0, while Al-Qadsia secured their spot in the final by defeating Kazma with an identical scoreline.

The Federation’s Competitions Committee has introduced a new tournament system for this edition, involving four teams – the league and cup champions and their runners-up from the previous season.

Kuwait boast six championship titles, Kazma hold two, and Al-Qadsia have clinched the trophy once before. Today's match holds special significance for Al-Qadsia as they seek redemption after succumbing to their opponents in the Al-Ittihad Championship, where Al-Abyad emerged triumphant against Burgan in the final match. Al-Qadsia, known for facing challenges against Kuwait, features a stellar lineup including Rashid Anbar, Fahd Al-Kout, Abdul-Wahab Al-Jeeran, Nasser Abdul-Samad, and Nasser Dashti, complemented by their international players Brazilian Djalma Moreira and Venezuelan Wilner Rivas, under the guidance of Argentine coach Julian Alvarez.

On the other side, Al-Abyad enter the final in peak form after securing the first championship of the season. Under the leadership of their new Turkish coach, Taner Atik, the team rely on star players Abdullah Jassim, Abdulrahman Al-Otaibi, Abdulaziz Najm, Abdullah Bouftin, along with the contributions of Chinese athlete Liu Bei Bin and Iranian standout Saber Kazemi. The stage is set for a thrilling culmination to this season's Super Cup.
