KUWAIT CITY, Dec 11: Al-Qadsiya advanced to the semifinals of the Federation Volleyball Championship after a 3-1 victory over Al-Arabi in their eighth-round match. The same round also saw Al-Sulaibikhat secure a 3-0 win against Al-Nasr.
With this win, Al-Qadsiya moved to 18 points, securing second place ahead of Kazma, who also has 18 points but trails in set points. Kuwait tops the standings with 21 points, while Al-Arabi remains in sixth place with 9 points, officially ending their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals. Al-Arabi's loss confirmed Burgan, with 14 points in fourth place, as the final team to secure a spot in the "golden square."
Heading into the final round of the preliminary stage, Kuwait Club, Al-Qadsiya, Kazma, and Burgan have all clinched their places in the semi-finals. However, the last-round matches, starting today, will determine the final standings of the top four. In the semi-finals, the first-ranked team will face the fourth, while the second will meet the third. The winners will advance to the championship final.
Today’s matches include Kuwait Club against Kazma at 7:00 p.m. and Al-Sulaibikhat against Al-Yarmouk at 5:00 p.m., taking place at Union Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Halls Complex.
In the Al-Qadsiya vs. Al-Arabi clash, the victory wasn’t easy for Al-Qadsiya. They took the first set 25-20, but Al-Arabi bounced back to dominate the second set 25-14. The third set was tightly contested, with Al-Qadsiya narrowly winning 26-24. This gave them the momentum to claim the fourth set 25-18, earning the full three points and securing their semi-final spot.
