KUWAIT CITY, Feb 2: Al-Qadsiya Club has officially signed Bulgarian professional Grozdanov to strengthen its volleyball team for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. Grozdanov will replace Dutch player Ter Horst, who suffered a foot fracture that required a prolonged recovery period.
Currently, Al-Qadsiya is holding an external training camp in Doha, Qatar, which began on January 21 and runs until February 5. This intensive camp serves as preparation for the upcoming 3rd West Asian Men's Volleyball Clubs Championship, set to take place in Manama, Bahrain, from February 7-15. The tournament will feature Al-Qadsiya and Kuwait Club as Kuwait’s representatives.
The tournament draw has placed Al-Qadsiya against Kuwait Club in their opening match on February 7 at Isa bin Rashid Hall in Riffa. The championship features eight competing clubs:
Kuwait Club (Kuwait), Al-Qadsiya (Kuwait), Al-Arabi (Qatar) , Al-Rayyan (Qatar), North Refineries (Iraq), Al-Salam (Oman) Al-Ahli (Bahrain)
The teams will compete in a single-round league format to determine the champion.
Al-Qadsiya’s delegation to the tournament is led by club board member and volleyball team head Dr. Hussein Al-Qabandi. The squad includes team manager Ismail Dashti, administrator Mohammed Al-Damkhi, Bahraini head coach Redha Ali, assistant coach Dordi Begic, physical trainer Idris Jakich, therapist Nicola, equipment manager Samir Malana, and 15 players.
With Grozdanov's arrival and a well-structured training camp, Al-Qadsiya aims for a strong showing in Bahrain as they compete for the West Asian title.
