KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: Al-Qurain ended Al-Salmiya's winning streak with a 28-27 victory in the eighth round of the preliminary stage of the Handball League. The same round also saw Al-Arabi secure a comfortable 31-22 victory over Al-Yarmouk.

The loss dropped Al-Salmiya to second place, remaining at 12 points, equal with Al-Arabi, who moved ahead on goal difference. Al-Qurain climbed to seventh place with 8 points, while Al-Yarmouk stayed at the bottom of the standings without points in 13th place.

The tournament follows a single-round league format, with the top six teams advancing to the Premier League. This next stage will feature a three-division league system, where teams carry over their preliminary points. Meanwhile, teams ranked seventh to fourteenth will compete in a two-division league to finalize their standings.

Matches between Kuwait Club and Kazma were postponed due to their ongoing participation in the Asian Championship, set to conclude tomorrow in Doha, Qatar.
