KUWAIT CITY, May 27: Salmiya Club has renewed the contract of Libyan professional Senussi Al-Hadi for two seasons, following his standout performance since joining the team during the winter transfer period last January.
Al-Hadi, who has earned the trust of Salmiya's technical staff led by Croatian coach Ante Misha, played a pivotal role in the team's success. Coach Misha, who originally brought Al-Hadi to the club, personally requested the renewal of the Libyan professional's contract. Additionally, Brazilian player Alex Lima's contract has been extended for another season, as per Misha's request. Coach Misha himself has a contract with Salmiya until the end of the next season.
Meanwhile, decisions are pending regarding the future of three other foreign players: Brazilian Sebastião Junior "Seba", Ghanaian Issaka Abudu, and Gambian Sang Pierre. While Seba seems likely to continue for another season, Abudu and Sang Pierre's futures remain uncertain.
In addition to securing their foreign players, Salmiya Club has also announced contract renewals with several local players. Badr Jamal and Muhammad Al-Huwaidi have both signed on for two more seasons, while Moaz Al-Asmaa's contract has been extended for three seasons. Team captain Fahd Al-Mujamd and players Abdul Mohsen Al-Turkmani and Yousef Al-Onaizan have all renewed for one season each.
Further decisions regarding the remaining local players are pending, with the club management awaiting a comprehensive report from Coach Misha, which is expected by the end of the week.
Looking ahead to next season, Salmiya Club aims to bolster its roster with skilled local and foreign players, to compete for local championships. Despite recent setbacks, including a loss in the Amir Cup final, the club remains determined to return to championship form. Their last major title was the Crown Prince Championship in the 2014-2015 season.
