Al-Shaheen: Junior team is the future of Kuwaiti handball

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 16: Yousef Al-Shaheen, Director of the Kuwait junior handball team, affirmed that the Handball Federation, in collaboration with the coaching staff and national teams, is diligently working to prepare the team for upcoming events. The team is the foundation for the senior national team’s future success.

The junior handball team traveled to Cairo, Egypt, for an external training camp, during which they will participate in several friendly matches to gear up for forthcoming international competitions.

The delegation is led by Board Member Mubarak Al-Daihani and accompanied by Federation Member Talal Al-Otaibi. National coach Khaled Al-Mulla heads the technical team, while Yousef Al-Shaheen manages the administrative team alongside the players.

Al-Shaheen commended the players for their commitment and adherence to the technical and administrative staff's guidance, both on and off the court. He stated: “We have players who are highly responsible and ambitious. They are determined to give their best and represent the Blue Team in a manner worthy of Kuwaiti handball.”

Meanwhile, on the second day of matches in the 29th World Handball Championship hosted by Croatia, Denmark, and Norway, the Egyptian national team delivered a convincing victory over Argentina, winning 39-25. Other results included Croatia’s 36-22 win against Bahrain, Germany’s 35-28 triumph over Poland, Portugal’s 30-21 win against the USA, the Netherlands’ 40-23 victory over Guinea, and Brazil’s narrow 29-26 win against Norway. Chile and Switzerland played to a 17-17 draw, as did Hungary and Macedonia, who tied 27-27.

Today's fixtures feature Bahrain against Egypt, Switzerland versus Germany, Croatia against Argentina, the Netherlands versus Macedonia, Portugal against Brazil, Guinea versus Hungary, Chile against Poland, and the USA versus Norway.
