KUWAIT CITY, Sept 1: Al-Sulaibikhat Club has finalized contracts with Colombian professional Ivan and Ghanaian player Richard Abamor to strengthen the first volleyball team ahead of the 2024-2025 seasons. Ivan, who previously played for Al-Sulaibikhat two seasons ago, is versatile in positions 2 and 4. Abamor, who also plays in position 4, has experience with the Ghanaian police team and has competed in the Indonesian league, with his most recent stint being with the Saudi Al-Hedaya team last season.

Additionally, the club's management has planned an external training camp in Turkey for the team later this month, where it will engage in a series of friendly matches against top Turkish league teams. Al-Sulaibikhat Club recently appointed Egyptian coach Mohamed Mahran to lead the first volleyball team. Mahran is recognized as a promising young coach, having coached the Egyptian youth team and Al-Hilal Saudi.

The roster has also been bolstered by the addition of several young local talents, including former Kazma player Mohamed Al-Ali, as well as Ali Al-Tawil and Fahad Al-Takhakh. The club’s technical director, Egyptian Ahmed Refaat, praised the club's management and the volleyball department led by Nasser Mansi for their dedication and support. He emphasized that all obstacles are being addressed to build a strong team composed of both experienced and young players, aiming to represent the club with honor in upcoming competitions.

Refaat highlighted the club's strategic plan to develop the volleyball teams, particularly the youth sector. This includes signing Egyptian coach Mustafa Saoudi to train the under-10 and under-12 players, and the distinguished Egyptian coach Ahmed Helmy, who will lead the under-14 and under-16 teams.
