Al-Tomooh Club delegation returns after winning 8 medals in the Heliopolis International Championship.

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The delegation of Al-Tomooh Sports Club for Mental Disabilities returned to Kuwait after a remarkable performance at the Fifth Heliopolis International Championship for People with Disabilities, held in Cairo, Egypt. The team secured an impressive total of 8 medals: 6 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Upon its arrival at Kuwait International Airport, the delegation was warmly welcomed by the Al-Tomooh Sports Club Board of Directors and representatives from the Public Authority for Sports.

Fahad Al-Sahly, the head of the delegation, expressed to KUNA that this achievement reflects the strong support and care provided to people with mental disabilities in Kuwait. He praised the players for their dedication and high-level performance during the championship, and he extended his gratitude to the Egyptian authorities for organizing the event.

Mohsen Al-Mashmoum, who earned two gold medals and one silver, shared his joy over the accomplishment, crediting the success to the combined efforts of the players, as well as the technical and administrative staff. He thanked the club for its unwavering support and vowed to continue training to achieve even greater results.

Coach Bilal Al-Hamami commended the athletes for their enthusiasm and dominance, highlighting their top finishes in athletics, along with their outstanding performance in table tennis. The final match in table tennis was an all-Kuwaiti affair, with the team securing gold and silver. The delegation included three athletes: Mohsen Al-Mashmoum and Hassan Al-Mutawa, who competed in both table tennis and athletics (100m and 200m races), and Mohammed Al-Otaibi, who participated in the athletics events (100m and 200m races).

Al-Mashmoum, Al-Otaibi, and Al-Mutawa all claimed gold in the 100m race. In the 200m race, both Al-Otaibi and Al-Mashmoum secured gold, while Al-Mutawa took bronze. Al-Mutawa also triumphed in table tennis, winning gold, with Al-Mashmoum earning silver.
