Al-Tomooh Club shines with gold and silver in Table Tennis

CAIRO, Sept 21, (KUNA): Al-Tomooh Kuwait Sports Club secured one gold and one silver medal in the table tennis competition for athletes over 21 at the fifth International Championship for People with Disabilities held in Cairo.

In a statement to KUNA, Hoda Al-Khalidi, the director of Al-Tomooh, expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the champion players and the administrative and technical teams for their unwavering support. Al-Khalidi noted that player Hassan Al-Mutawa advanced to the final after defeating a competitor from Port Fouad Al-Busaidi Club with a score of 2-0. Similarly, player Mohsen Al-Mashmoum reached the final by defeating a Zamalek Club player with the same score. The two Kuwaiti athletes will face each other in the final match.

Additionally, Al-Khalidi highlighted that Hassan Al-Mutawa, Mohsen Al-Mashmoum, and Mohammed Al-Otaibi are set to compete in athletics events next Saturday, focusing on the 100-meter and 200-meter races. She expressed confidence in the players’ abilities to continue their success and increase Kuwait’s medal count.

The fifth International Championship for People with Disabilities commenced last Thursday in Al-Shorouk, Cairo, with 244 athletes from 20 clubs, including Kuwait’s Al-Tomooh Club, participating in both table tennis and athletics competitions. The tournament delegation is led by the club's assistant secretary, Fahd Al-Shali, and includes coach Bilal Al-Hammami alongside the competing players.
