KUWAIT CITY, Dec 23: The Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently conducted an inspection tour of wood and aluminum shops in Al-Rai as part of its ongoing efforts to monitor prices and ensure compliance with the ministry’s regulations and laws. Director of the department Faisal Al- Ansari informed the newspaper that the inspection teams of the ministry visited wood and aluminum shops in Al-Rai in response to multiple complaints from consumers. The complainants reported that some traders demanded advance payment of about 25 to 50 percent — ranging from KD 2,000 to KD 3,000 — without completing the agreed-upon work.
Al-Ansari explained that some shop owners collected substantial amounts before moving to other areas without fulfilling their obligations, prompting consumers to file complaints. During the inspection tour, the teams reviewed contracts signed by consumers and issued nine notices to shop owners; instructing them to visit the department and comply with the regulations. He said the goal of the inspection tour was to make sure that shop owners and workers adhere to ministerial decisions and avoid violations. He confirmed the continuation of such inspection tours to safeguard consumers’ rights and strictly enforce the laws and regulations.
