American stars power Kuwait Club to victory over Al-Qurain

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: The Kuwait Club basketball team secured a hard-fought victory over Al-Qurain with a score of 94-85 in a match held at the Union Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex as part of the Merger League. This win elevated Kuwait Club's tally to 10 points, while Al-Qurain now stands at five points.

In another thrilling encounter, Al-Nasr edged Al-Arabi 106-100 in a closely contested game that remained competitive until the final moments. The quarters were evenly matched, with Al-Arabi taking the first set 21-19, followed by Al-Nasr dominating the second with a 57-43 lead. Al-Nasr maintained its edge in the third quarter, 83-69, ultimately closing the game ahead by six points to raise their total to 8 points, while Al-Arabi reached six points.

The Kuwait Club versus Al-Qurain game showcased technical prowess, with Kuwait Club maintaining a slight advantage in all quarters despite Al-Qurain's determined efforts. The first quarter ended with Kuwait Club leading by three points (23-20). Al-Qurain then turned the tables, scoring 25 points to take a narrow three-point lead (45-42) at halftime. The third quarter saw Al-Qurain holding on to its advantage, leading 69-65. However, Kuwait Club’s experience, technical skill, and deep bench strength proved decisive in the final quarter. Kuwait Club outscored Al-Qurain 29-16, sealing the win.

American players Jakar Sampson and Brent Weber were standout performers for Kuwait Club, scoring 26 and 24 points, respectively. For Al-Qurain, Austin was the top scorer with 18 points, delivering an impressive performance despite the loss.
