Amir taps clean-hands Crown Prince

KUWAIT CITY, June 2: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah signed an Order Sunday appointing Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Crown Prince. His Highness the Amir instructed the Prime Minister to implement the Order which would take effect once published in the official gazette. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received at Seif Palace on Sunday His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah who took the constitutional oath as Deputy Amir. His Highness the Amir delivered a speech during the occasion in which he congratulated Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled on becoming the Crown Prince, wishing him success in serving Kuwait and its people and pushing development and progress forward. In reply, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled expressed gratitude for His Highness the Amir for nominating him as Crown Prince, voicing his great pride and deep appreciations for this great honor.

His Highness the Crown Prince vowed to serve the country and its people and performing his utmost best under the guidance of His Highness the Amir. He also expressed determination to fulfill responsibilities set by the country’s leadership, wishing Kuwait and its people continuous progress and development. The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and senior state officials. His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received on Sunday a congratulatory cable from His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on the occasion of nominating His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Crown Prince.

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah sent on Sunday a congratulatory cable to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, wishing him success in serving Kuwait and its people and pushing development and progress forward. Head of the Prime Minister’s Office, Abdulaziz Al-Dakhil, sent on Sunday a congratulatory cable to His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah conveying his well wishes and hopes for success to His Highness the Crown Prince. A number of former ministers affirmed that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad’s selection of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled as the Crown Prince is a pioneering and important step. They agreed that Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled is indeed “the right man in the right place” and that “he is the best person to translate the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad in development and reform.” In an investigative interview by Al- Seyassah, the former ministers stated that His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled has deep ministerial experience in all fields, and also headed the Council of Ministers for more than one term, adding that these experiences enabled him to know the most minute details of the reform. Yahya Al-Sumait said the selection of His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled as the Crown Prince is quite suitable. He explained that Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled has high political experience, as he was an active minister of Foreign Affairs. He then headed the Council of Ministers for more than one term. This enables him to know all the issues that concern Kuwait and the people together. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled is the most capable and best at this stage for the position of the Crown Prince, as he has great knowledge about the economic aspects that Kuwait needs. He will work side by side with His Highness the Amir of the country to push the wheel of development and the economy forward, especially since Kuwait needs to diversify sources of income.

Through his career, which involved working with His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad, His Highness the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, and His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled proved his integrity and his ability to give. He affirmed that Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled is the best person to translate the directives of His Highness the Amir of the country for developing Kuwaiti cadres, providing them with employment, and opening the way for the private sector to be supportive of the national economy. Al-Sumait highlighted that Sheikh Sabah’s diplomatic experiences include his assumption of the portfolio of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and being chosen as the Prime Minister of Kuwait. He added that His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled, during his long career of diplomatic and governmental work, obtained various experiences and many medals, and also played a big role in the country’s renaissance in all fields when he was the Prime Minister.

Experience and wisdom In this regard, the Minister of Education and former MP Ahmad Al- Mulaifiexplained that he believes His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al- Khaled’s assumption of the position of the Crown Prince is important and necessary, especially since he has deep political experience because he held more than one position before assuming the premiership. All his political experiences have added wisdom and political sophistication to his personality. He has full knowledge of all the issues of the country and its people. For this reason, he will be helpful and supportive of the directions of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad. Important step Meanwhile, former Minister of Awqaf, Islamic and Municipal Affairs Fahad Al-Shula praised the important and successful step taken by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad in recommending Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled for the position of Crown Prince. He said he hopes Allah would grant Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled success in his new role, and help him take up the responsibility with honesty, as he is the best person to carry out the role.

Achievements continue In this context, former minister of Housing Affairs and Public Works Bader Al-Humaidi said he believes the people of Kuwait are rejoicing over the good news and will now see successive achievements for the benefit of the country and its people, adding, “We will witness social projects that can help advance the Kuwaiti citizens so that they can enjoy the bounties of his country”. He indicated that he expected the announcement about the recommendation of Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled as the Crown Prince because of his experiences and scientific and cultural qualifications, in addition to the fact that he is a good speaker and has a vision for the development of the nation.

Clean hands Al-Humaidi affirmed that Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled’s assumption of the throne did not come out of nowhere, but the decision was based on the wisdom and experience of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, who believe that His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled is qualified and capable of running the country.
This was in consideration of the fact that he possesses deep experience at various levels including political and economic. In a statement to KUNA on Sunday, Dr. Al-Awadhi said that His Highness the Crown Prince has a distinguished and successful record in both diplomatic and governmental realms. He commended the Crown Prince’s efforts in the digital transformation projects for ministries and state institutions, as well as qualitative leap in the quality of public services. He praised His Highness’s government efforts during the COVID- 19 pandemic, sparing no efforts in serving the country and ensuring the health and safety of citizens and residents, as these efforts were admired and appreciated by the political leadership, as well as by international and regional organizations. Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, Sunday, congratulated His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on the new post as Crown Prince. In a press statement, Al-Huwailah said that His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al- Hamad Al-Sabah is one of the political and national figures who has high diplomacy and great imprints on a local and foreign level, in addition to his efforts ever since he was Social Affairs Miniter until he became Prime Minister. She added that His Highness the Crown Prince’s directives when he was Prime Minister had a wide impact in enhancing integrity, combating corruption, giving priority to the interests of citizens, and achieving Kuwait’s development vision, while also commending his role during Covid-19 pandemic and its challenges.

The confidence of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in His Highness the Crown Prince comes from his appreciation for the wisdom and experience that His Highness owns, stressed Al-Huwailah, and his keenness to continue the process of progress and prosperity led by the wise leadership. Al-Huwailah prayed to Allah Almighty to grant His Highness the Crown Prince success and to protect Kuwait, its leadership and people. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Mubarak Al-Sabah received on Sunday a telephone call from Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, congratulating him on the new post. During the phone conversation, the Bahraini Crown Prince wished His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled success and good health, for the State of Kuwait further progress and prosperity. For his part, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah expressed gratitude to the Bahraini Crown Prince for his good sentiments that depict depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries and peoples. He also wished the Kingdom of Bahrain and its people more success and prosperity.

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Al-Budaiwi congratulated His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on his appointment as Crown Prince of Kuwait. In a press statement, Al-Budaiwi extended his highest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness the Crown Prince, hoping for his success in his duties and that Allah Almighty guides his steps. He prayed to Allah Almighty continue to bless Kuwait with security, prosperity, and stability under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, hoping Kuwait would continue its historic journey as a model of leadership and sustainable development, advancing towards greater progress and enhancing its regional and international standing in various fields.

He commended Kuwait’s pioneering role in promoting joint Gulf action, including its significant and ongoing efforts towards achieving comprehensive Gulf integration in all areas. Arab Parliament President Adel Al-Asoumi congratulated His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah for being nominated as the Crown Prince by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahamd Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. In a statement on Sunday, Al- Asoumi said that His Highness the Crown Prince has a distinguished and successful record in both diplomatic and governmental realms. Al-Asoumi wished His Highness the Crown Prince success in his new responsibility as well as further progress and prosperity for Kuwait.
