Amir's Grand International Shooting Championship begins on Saturday

KUWAIT CITY, April 10, (KUNA): The Grand Annual International Shooting Championship of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will commence this Saturday at the Kuwait Shooting Club, bringing together approximately 220 archers from 17 Arab and international nations. The seven-day event is poised to be one of the most significant sporting events in Kuwait.

Duaij Al-Otaibi, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee and President of the Kuwait Shooting Club, expressed on Thursday that Kuwait is honored to host the championship, which has become one of the largest and most prominent shooting events in the region and across Asia. He also extended his deepest gratitude to His Highness the Amir for his kind patronage of the event.

This annual championship features competitions for both men and women in shotgun shooting and has established itself as a key sporting gathering for archery enthusiasts. Al-Otaibi noted the strong participation of international delegations, including the President and Secretary-General of the International Shooting Federation, as well as heads of national federations taking part in the tournament.

All preparations have been completed for the event, with the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad shooting fields at the Kuwait Shooting Club ready to host the competition. The opening ceremony will be attended by the representative of the sponsor, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Sheikh Sabah Bader Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

The competition will feature approximately 120 Kuwaiti archers across five different events. Al-Otaibi emphasized that the Kuwait Shooting Club aims to involve as many local shooters as possible to enhance their experience and prepare them for upcoming global, continental, and regional tournaments. He expressed confidence in the ability of Kuwaiti archers to compete effectively and achieve top rankings against world champions.

He also commended the continued support from the General Sports Authority and other state agencies, highlighting their essential role in the tournament’s success, as well as the efforts of the volunteers.
