Amir's measures need competent individuals

WE are not exaggerating when we reiterate that the measures taken by His Highness the Amir in May continue to resonate both locally and internationally.

Despite attempts by some profiteers and the deep state to undermine the process and possibly influence critical decisions, the Amir’s rescue operation managed to settle the controversy. In the eyes of citizens and other countries, these measures represent a beacon of hope for Kuwait to overcome its long-standing challenges.

Undoubtedly, chaos and corruption have plagued the country over the past three decades, necessitating huge efforts for reform and eradicating such phenomena. This highlights the massive role of the Council of Ministers, which requires skilled individuals and advisors who are capable of connecting the dots and making wise decisions. It is essential to address any shortcomings before they escalate into major crises that could undermine all efforts.

It is indeed necessary to appoint technocratic ministers who are immune to pressures. The people expect His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad's vision and aspirations to be translated into concrete actions. It is imperative to move beyond superficial measures and address the root problems directly.

Therefore, choices must be clear and unambiguous, with all bodies and ministries working impartially, free from favoritism, nepotism, and the "You scratch my back, I scratch yours" mentality.

Kuwait continues to face several challenges that must be solved, as their persistence places immense pressure on people and exacerbates their suffering in terms of loans, physical coercion on the insolvent, education, healthcare, housing, and industrial development. In fact, serious research is ongoing into activating operations at Mubarak Port, which requires the development of a logistics area or even free trade zones.

From this standpoint, seeking assistance from experts, both locally and internationally, is essential. This approach not only demonstrates the state's openness to new ideas but also its commitment to implementing effective solutions through clear decisions and legislation.

It is not possible to build from vacuum, due to which updating legislation has become an essential necessity.

Many countries richer than Kuwait, with esteemed elites, have sought the expertise of professionals from abroad. We have cited some examples in this regard before.

Today we will once again highlight China's experience. China, for instance, had enlisted the assistance of an Iraqi-born British academic Elias Korkis, who is widely recognized in China as the founder of the strategy of their economic development project in their country. Similarly, many other nations have benefited from the expertise of international experts.

Therefore, seeking the assistance of constitutional, legal, and economic experts from abroad for Kuwait's development efforts is beneficial.

His Highness the Amir initiated a radical rescue operation, and decisively ended tribal, sectarian, and familial interference as well as quotas. This move led to the introduction of young patriotic and capable ministers.

The wheel of production continued to turn despite the ministerial reshuffle and the resignation of some ministers. This demonstrates the fact that the state does not rely on anyone or pause for anyone, which His Highness aimed to emphasize by suspending the National Assembly and certain constitutional articles.

Therefore, the Council of Ministers and all officials must closely heed His Highness’s directives from June 22, 2022, to the present. These directives contain important messages that must be adhered to if His Highness's vision, which are based on the people’s aspirations, are to be realized.

In rescue operations, there is no room for error, and the process must be comprehensive. This principle must be at the forefront of the minds of officials, particularly the Council of Ministers, which holds both executive and legislative responsibilities.
