Appeals Court Upholds Two-Year Sentence in Vote-Buying Case

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The Court of Appeals has refused to suspend the two-year prison sentence issued against Saadoun Hammad and others for buying votes during the 2024 National Assembly elections. A session has been scheduled for October 7 to further consider the case.

Earlier, the Criminal Court had sentenced former MP Saadoun Hammad and others to two years imprisonment with hard labor for their involvement in vote buying in the Third Constituency of the National Assembly elections. During the court session, the defendants denied the charges, reiterating their previous statements to the Public Prosecution that they did not engage in any efforts to buy votes in the Third Constituency.
