JEDDAH, Dec 14: Fadel Al-Nimr, President of the Arab Handball Federation, has announced the revival of the Arab Cup Championship for men’s teams, set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in May 2025. The tournament, returning after a hiatus of more than 20 years, will run during the International Handball Federation Week from May 4 to 12, ensuring full participation from the top Arab teams as domestic leagues pause for the international schedule.

Saudi Arabia, home to the Arab Handball Federation since its establishment, has welcomed the opportunity to host the championship, which will feature some of the strongest Arab national teams. Al-Nimr expressed his delight at reviving the tournament and extended a warm welcome to all Arab teams and their delegations. He praised the Kingdom's sports leadership, particularly Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki, Minister of Sports, for the ongoing support of Arab sports federations.

Al-Nimr also expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for hosting the Arab Handball Federation headquarters for 50 years. He confirmed that federations from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Iraq, and Jordan have shown interest in participating.

The Arab Cup for national teams has been held nine times before, with its inaugural edition in Alexandria, Egypt, in 1977. Jordan has hosted the event three times, with other editions taking place twice in Egypt and Syria, and once each in Kuwait and Morocco.
